NADA MRT Exceeds Targets

KAJANG, January 2, 2024 – The mobile treatment and rehabilitation services of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA MRT), introduced in 2021, continue to be enhanced by expanding access to those who face difficulties in accessing NADA services.

NADA Director General, Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon, stated that for this purpose, NADA has set these alternative services outside of NADA setting as a key performance indicator (KPI) to ensure efforts to assist those struggling with drug problems to be fully rehabilitated.

He mentioned that until December 2023, NADA MRT exceeded its target, serving a total of 8,814 clients, marking a 57 percent increase in the reach of MRT services nationwide compared to the 3,444 clients served the previous year.

“In addition to the core services that have become standard at NADA since its establishment, NADA is taking steps to strengthen recovery services through a mobile platform outside the NADA setting, known as Mobile Recovery Treatment (NADA MRT), with a target of 3,800 clients in 2023.

“Alhamdulillah, the NADA MRT service has garnered interest from clients due to their trust, the introduction of new packages, and its ease of accessibility,” he said during the New Year’s Address at the January Monthly Assembly of NADA, held on Tuesday.

Moreover, Tuan Sutekno added that NADA MRT is not only beneficial for NADA clients in districts and institutions but also encompasses the Malaysian Prisons Department and the Social Welfare Department through strategic collaborations. He mentioned that this collaboration was acknowledged by the Malaysian Prisons Department through a certificate of appreciation to NADA.

“The psychiatrist at Permai Hospital Johor Bahru, in a letter to NADA, praised and recognized the expertise of the NADA MRT team in providing treatment, medicine, and rehabilitation for substance use disorder, including cases of clients with co-occurring mental health issues.

“We should take pride in the successful expansion of the NADA MRT implementation, with the NADA MRT brand logo successfully registered under the service trademark registration of the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) for a period of 10 years.

“This exclusive right makes the NADA MRT product a valuable, high-quality, and certified asset. NADAโ€™s MRT also received recognition at the Ministry of Home Affairsโ€™ (MOHA) 2023 Innovation Project Exhibition Competition, securing third place in October last year,” he concluded.
