Half of the KBT Successfully Changed Status to KBR

KAJANG, January 2, 2024 – Half of the 155 High-Risk Areas (KBT) identified by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) have successfully changed their status to Low-Risk Areas (KBR) nationwide by 2023.

Director General of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA), Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon, stated that as of November 2023, a total of 77 High-Risk Areas (KBT), or 99 percent, have achieved a green status and switched to Low-Risk Areas (KBR), compared to 39 KBTs in 2022.

He mentioned that out of the 77 KBTs with KBR status, 16 have been handed over to the community for KBR maintenance purposes.

“Considering the successful momentum, NADA is confident and has set a target to change the status of KBT in 117 areas involving 39 KBT, while the remaining 78 KBT are for maintenance to ensure that all hotspot areas remain as KBR status in 2024,” he said during the New Year’s Message at the January Monthly Assembly of NADA on Tuesday.

Regarding the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for the detention rate of suspected drug abusers (OYDS), NADA determined that 91 percent of the 19,238 OYDSs detected nationwide were positive for drugs.

“I am pleased to share with everyone that NADA has successfully achieved this target this year, with a total of 17,569, or 91.32 percent of detected OYDS found positive for drugs, compared to 42,446, or 113 percent of OYDS detained from 37,657 OYDS last year.

“In addition to the achievements I have mentioned earlier, many other achievements have been made by NADA throughout 2023.

“Even though these achievements may be seen as small, they carry significant meaning for all of us to redouble our efforts to integrate these small successes into an unforgettable success in the future,” he added.
