The 64^th Session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (64^th CND) was successfully held from 12 to 16 April 2021 in Vienna, Austria. In light of the current Covid-19 situation, the session was held in a hybrid format, combining an in-person component at the Vienna International Centre with virtual participation from member states. The Malaysian delegation was led by H.E Dato’ Ganeson Sivagurunathan, Embassy of Malaysia and Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in Vienna and representatives from Ministry Of Home Affairs (MOHA), National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA), Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), Pharmacy Enforcement Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), Customs Enforcement Division, Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) and Department of Chemistry Malaysia through the online platform. NADA was represented by Dr. Norazri bin Ahmad from Enforcement & Security Department and Mrs. Norkumala binti Abdul Rahman from International Unit.

The CND convenes annually and is the foremost drug-policymaking body in the United Nations (UN) system, responsible for monitoring the world drug situation, developing evidence-based strategies for drug control and recommending measures to address the world drug problem. The ceremonial segment featured a message from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, delivered by the Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Ghada Waly. The opening also featured statements by the President of the Economic and Social Council, the Director-General of WHO, the President of the INCB, and the Chair of the Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs.
