MDN, TMDN work visit to AADK

Kajang, 5 January 2023 – The Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail together with his deputy, the Honorable Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, conducted a work visit at the Headquarters of the National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA) here today.

The work visit was held for the first time after he was appointed as a member of the Cabinet since Dec, 2nd 2022.

Director General of NADA, Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon delivered a thorough briefing during the work visit to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA).

The issues discussed focused on the agency three main cores, which are Treatment, Medicine and Rehabilitation, Prevention and Enforcement and Security.

Saifuddin Nasution said the ministry set a target of 75 percent for the addict rehabilitation program for NADA this year.

He said, the reason for the new target setting follows the success of last year achievement by the agency which reached up to 70 percent for the rehabilitation program for addicts.

“Last year, as many as 70 percent of drug addicts who underwent the rehabilitation program at NADA were found to have successfully remove the habit permanently and zero cases of relapse as such for this year I have set a target of 75 percent for every 100 individuals who undergo the drug rehabilitation process.

“NADAโ€™s rehabilitation program is a success based on the percentage of drug addicts who are successfully rehabilitated compared to the international standard of 35 to 50 percent,” he said in a press conference after the working visit at NADA Headquarters, here on Thursday.

He added that NADA, which has complete data on the program, needs to do an analysis system to develop a model of expectation to further increase the success rate of its rehabilitation program.

Also present were KDN Deputy Secretary General (Security), Dato’ Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman, Deputy Director General (Management), Mrs Chang Hong Jin and NADA Deputy Director General (Operations), Dato Dr Muhamad Sade Mohamad Amin.
