JKMD passed the one million Anti-Drugs Squad membership campaign

PUTRAJAYA, July 11, 2023 – The Cabinet Committee Meeting on Combating Drug Crime (JKMD) the 1st for 2023 approved the implementation of the One Million Anti-Drugs SKUAD campaign by June 2024.

The effort is to raise the awareness to all parties regarding the effects of drug abuse and prohibited substances through a program mobilized by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) volunteers.

Director General of NADA, Sutekno Ahmad Belon said, the campaign was held to further strengthen healthy lifestyle programs and activities thus acting as an agent of change for families in delivering the message ‘Drug Prevention Starts at Home’.

“This effort aims to increase the membership of the Anti-Drugs SKUAD by 10 percent of the total number of youth in Malaysia, protecting youth from the threat of drugs through the membership and activities of the Anti-Drugs SKUAD in 176 districts across the country.

“Furthermore, the reason why it is implemented to expand the anti-drugs message through the practice of a healthy drug-free lifestyle independently directly to friends, community and family,” he said in a press conference after the JKMD meeting here, on Monday.

Earlier the meeting was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In the meantime, the implementation of the Anti-Drugs SKUAD campaign was also mobilized to be a protective factor for youth from drug abuse, thereby increasing the interest of youth in joining the volunteer body held by NADA.
