TANJUNG KLING, Oct 19, 2023 – Psychospiritual programmes through the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) i-Pulih Model’s religious and spiritual approach is deemed to improve clients’ ability to recover.

NADA Director General, Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon, stated that Assistant Islamic Affairs Officers (PPHEI) stationed at NADA facilities need to be empowered from various aspects, especially in carrying out their role in shaping clients’ behaviour.

According to him, the effort would also help people who have taken the wrong path to better understand the fundamental purpose of life and what it means to be responsible to one’s self, family, and society before they function in society.

“Thus, this effort must be maintained because we believe that the emphasis on three important aspects: the spirit, the body, and the mind, can have a positive and encouraging impact on the clients.

“I also hope that everyone who participates can grasp and understand the elements of the NADA i-Pulih Model deeper so that the clients’ treatment and rehabilitation process can run smoothly while complying with the guidelines set,” he said.

He said this while officiating the 2023 NADA Institution and Community Empowering Camp for Islamic Officers here, on Thursday.

Also present were the Director of NADA’s Treatment, Medication and Rehabilitation Division, Siti Mariam Mursidan; Director of NADA Malacca, Noor Azrimah Ahmad; Directors of PUSPEN Tiang Dua, Dzulkhissham Rahmat Rahaman and Siti Zaharah Bechi.

Meanwhile, Tuan Sutekno urged any NADA official who is active in giving talks at suraus and mosques to spread anti-drug messages while also explaining the responsibility of supporting NADA clients to the community.

“This way, I’m sure it can give some awareness and understanding to the community about the recovery process,” he said.
