Kuala Lumpur, February 19, 2024 – The National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA), in collaboration with the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), has established the NADA Rumah Perantaraan (Intermediary House) Service facility for drug addicts who wish to undergo drug rehabilitation treatment voluntarily.

Such a first-of-its-kind facility has been created to provide rehabilitation services in a comfortable, easily accessible, community-based facility in Jalan Raja Alang, Kampung Baru.

According to the Director General of NADA, Mr Sutekno Ahmad Belon, the facilityโ€™s objective is to provide a safer, cleaner and more comfortable environment.

โ€œIt provides many conveniences and access to programmes and activities that can enhance the clientsโ€™ recovery process because it is more open (community-based).

โ€œThe clients can receive inputs and referrals that can improve the quality of life in terms of employment and a temporary shelter,โ€ he said at a media briefing at the launch of NADA Rumah Perantara Service last Monday.

Mr Sutekno also mentioned that clients may bring their family members to receive counselling and more information to help the rehabilitation journey of the clients.

โ€œThere are clients who have finished their treatments yet end up relapsing, so it is very important for the people around them, especially family members, to assist in the recovery process. Hence why, we allow them to bring their families to this NADA Rumah Perantara.

โ€œTherefore, we hope that the local community in need of drug rehabilitation services can come here regardless of whether they are relapsed or new. InshaAllah, we will open facilities like this in more places,โ€ he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Sutekno added, that four main services are offered through the facility, namely screening, client assessment and admission, referral and advocacy, and community-based treatment and rehabilitation programme (RPDK).

โ€œIt utilises the NADA i-Pulih Module which includes biological, psychological, social, and spiritual components while also providing interest and career matching (SDS-NADA) service.

“Those who wish to avail themselves of these services can come voluntarily, and the operating hours of this facility are from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm for client registration and admission.

“If you want to get a referral after office hours or on public holidays, you need to contact the Hello AADK Hotline at 1-800-22-AADK (2235) or WhatsApp at 019-626 2233,” he said.
