Selangor MTMD: Different approaches are used to overcome the drug problem in Sabak Bernam.

SHAH ALAM, 4 July 2022 – YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor Menteri Besar, advised that training for community leaders be periodically improved and expanded to include additional parties.

He also requested the authorities to take an alternative way to deal with the drug addiction issue in the fishing community of Sabak Bernam, Selangor.

The recommendation was made after the presentation of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) notification paper on the Achievement of the 2021 Strategic Plan and the Implementation Status of the Selangor Initiative to Control the Threat of Drug Reality (SMARD) in the Selangor State Anti-Drugs Action Council (MTMD) Meeting No. 1 Year 2022 recently.

Moreover, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin, who presided over the meeting, advised that NADA supervise private drug rehab facilities’ operations to ensure that they consistently follow NADA basic criteria, including updating the inmate database.

The action is meant to enable the agency to offer advise and ensure that periodic monitoring is carried out in conformity with NADA requirements.

Apart from NADA, the Royal Malaysian Police also presented two information papers, namely the Current Drug Scenario Report and Statistics on Criminal Complaints, Seizures and Arrests under ADB 1952 in 13 High Risk Areas of Selangor 2021-2022.

NADA Deputy Director General (Operations), YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Sade Mohamad Amin and Head of the Secretariat Unit for the Coordination of the Implementation of the National Drug Symptoms Policy NADA, Mohd. Nadmin Ramlan were present in the event.
