Penang MTMD: One Consideration was Approved

PENANG, 18 April 2022 – The Penang State Government approved a consideration paper involving the Establishment of Community Porches (Anjung Komuniti) in High Risk Areas (HRA) for Drug Addiction in the state.

It was approved by the Penang Drug Eradication Action Council (MTMD) Meeting No. 1 2022 chaired by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow.

The Anjung Komuniti will be located in seven HRAs in Penang involving Mukim 20; Mukim 21; Mukim 19; District 1; Mukim 16; Mukim 12 and Mukim 13.

Furthermore, it was intended to bring the agency closer to the community to ensure that the presence and services can be perceived and consistent.

Besides that, Anjung Komuniti will also serve as a hub, center of activities and daily operations involving all strategic partners, leaders and local communities under the HRA Steering Group Committee established by the National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA).

The MTMD meeting was also participated by Penang State Secretary, Dato ‘Dr. Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus; Agriculture Exco, Penang State Health Rural Development, Dr. Norlela Ariffin; NADA Director General, Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon; Penang NADA Director, Elmariah Chung and representatives of state and federal government agencies and departments.
