NADA TEKAD well received by the Penang State Government

GEORGE TOWN, February 13, 2024 – A total of eight departments under the Penang State Government today have received the certification for successfully implementing the Drug-Free Workplace Programme (TEKAD) managed by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA).

Among the departments include the Shariah Judiciary Department; Penang Hill Corporation; Penang Island City Council; Penang State Library Corporation; State Department of Urban and Rural Planning; Botanical Garden Department; and the State Land and Mind Offices.

All of the departments have received a five-star certification based on the TEKAD guidelines, especially in implementing five out of seven steps required to obtain the TEKAD Certification and recognition.

PENANG State NADA, with the collaboration of the Penang State Secretary Office (PSKPP)โ€™s Integrity Unit, has developed the Drug-Free Workplace Implementation Guidelines for the Penang Civil Sector.

The certification was presented by the Penang State Secretary, YB Datoโ€™ Rosli Isa, during the Address Ceremony of the Penang State Secretary alongside the Administration of the Penang State Secretaryโ€™s Office.

Accompanying the presentation of certificates was the Director of Penang State NADA, Elmariah Chung.

For the record, the TEKAD programme aims to ensure that workplaces are free from drugs and substances.

The TEKAD programme is a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for every department and agency under the State Government in line with the mission of Penag Combating Drug Threats and Controlled Drugs 2025.
