SUNGAI PETANI, November 23, 2023 – A total of 61 officials from the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) all over the world have participated in the NADA Strategic Planning Retreat 2023 at the Working Group Level at NADA’s Training Centre, Sungai Petani, Kedah.

The three-day retreat began on Wednesday to assess the implementation and achievement of KPIs for each core for the year 2023, which will serve as the main reference document for all NADA employees in performing their role as a leading agency dealing with the drug and substance addiction problem.

According to the Policy, Planning, and Research Division Director, Othman Mohamed Nazari, this is an effort to fulfil NADA’s role as a leading agency dealing with the drug and substance addiction problem.

He stated that, in addition to the input discussed, the retreat will be used as a key element in the management of an organisation to indicate the organization’s direction.

“The objective of the retreat is to evaluate the implementation and achievement of key performance indicators (KPI) in five main cores including the core of prevention; the core of treatment, medication and rehabilitation; the core of enforcement and security as well as the core of international cooperation and organizational strengthening.

“This retreat is being held to ensure that issues that arise during the implementation of the NADA Strategic Plan 2023 can be dealt with more efficiently,” he remarked today during the retreat’s inauguration.

Meanwhile, according to Othman, the organization of the retreat is expected to foster brotherhood and strengthen the spirit of cooperation among participants in order to avoid a culture of working in silos when formulating a direction (way forward) for the implementation of the NADA Strategic Plan 2024.

“It is hoped that this retreat will serve as a platform to share ideas regarding the implementation of NADA Strategic Plan 2024.”

“The results of this retreat will be presented during the 2023 NADA Strategic Planning Retreat at the Management Level by Division Directors and Unit Heads according to the five main cores,” he said.

The retreat was also attended by three Chief Assistant Directors (Policy) of the core divisions, namely Bushro Ahmad (Treatment, Medicine and Rehabilitation Policy KPP); Dr Nor Azri Ahmad (Enforcement and Security Policy KPP); Zolkifli Mohd Dom (Prevention Policy KPP) and Anuar Ismail (Planning KPP) as an observer group.
