DENGKIL, 24 June 2022 – A recent Jom Petik Rock Melon activity allowed the public to purchase rock melon fruit that had been grown for 75 days at Pusat Pemulihan Penagihan Narkotik (PUSPEN) Dengkil, Selangor.
Interestingly, visitors can choose and pick their own rock melons in a half-acre farm run by a group of PUSPEN clients.
According to Ruziliza Ibrahim, the Director of PUSPEN Dengkil, the annual activity is a vocational skills training under the i-Pulih Module of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) for clients undergoing treatment and rehabilitation programmes at PUSPEN Dengkil.
“Therefore, visitors can now view the clients’ work as well as the skills provided by NADA during their treatment and rehabilitation period here” (PUSPEN Dengkil).
“Additionally, projects like this permit the clients to practice the knowledge and skills they learn at PUSPEN outside, thus generating income later,” she explained.
Jom Petik Rock Melon activity was successfully joined by the Deputy Director General (Management) of NADA, Puan Chan Hong Jin together with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PUSPEN Dengkil, Dato’ Sabari Misran who also had the opportunity to pick ripe rock melons.
