Drug Abuse Information Network For Asia And The Pacific (DAINAP) Focal Points Meeting

Malaysia has participated in the Drug Abuse Information Network for Asia and the Pacific (DAINAP) Focal Points meeting organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) that was held virtually on 22nd February 2021 at National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) Malaysia Headquarters. Delegation from Malaysia comprises of three officers from NADA Malaysia and one officer from Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), Royal Malaysia Police (RMP). This inauguration meeting held to discuss matters related to the implementation and reporting methods of DAINAP system as well as to scrutinize measures to improve the data collection methods and operations to be a user-friendly system.

The DAINAP system is an online data collection and sharing system launched in 2005 for ASEAN countries and China. It was designed and implemented by all 11 participating countries with the assistance of UNODC projects and as a commitment to ACCORD (ASEAN and China Cooperative Operations in Response to Dangerous Drugs) plan of action. This essential element of internet-based data submission is to establish regional system to collect, process and disseminate drug abuse information from national counterparts in participating countries in order to monitor drug abuse patterns and trends presented formidable obstacles in regional coordination.
