Pusat Pemulihan Penagihan Narkotik Sukarela (PUSPEN S)


The Pusat Pemulihan Penagihan Narkotik Sukarela (PUSPEN S) provides voluntary drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation pursuant to Section 8(3)(a) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment & Rehabilitation) Act 1983. These services are more open to all target groups, whether drug users, abusers or addicts. The minimum period of treatment for a client at the Cure & Care Clinic is 6 months, and the maximum is 24 months (2 years). These services have given individuals who are working (public/private sector), schooling, college/university students the opportunity to obtain early treatment when they have a drug addiction problem.


  • The services offered at the PUSPEN (S) are available to anyone with a drug problem. Inpatient and outpatient treatment are offered to clients and encompasses detoxification using medication, counselling and guidance, religious and spiritual treatment, relapse prevention education, life skills, support group, reference and advocacy.
  • The clinic offers its services to clients who present themselves voluntarily, including clients’ families or their significant others.
  • The clients who come to the clinic to undergo drug treatment and rehabilitation programmes are not bound by any legal implication. They will be tested and evaluated for drug use prior to admission and no legal action will be taken against them.

The principles for admission of clients into PUSPEN (S) are:

  • Voluntary

Method of client admission :

  • Voluntary attendance in person;
  • Referral by third party – family, partner, friend, employer and others;
  • Outreach by NADA officer or non-governmental organisation
