Tuan Sutekno Leads Malaysia’s Delegation in Joining 42nd ASOD

KAJANG, September 30th 2021 – Malaysia joins 42nd ASEAN Senior Official on Drug Matters (ASOD)’s Meeting on previous September 14th, 2021.

The meeting which is organized by Lao National Commission for Drug Control (LCDC) Lao PDR which is conducted through online conference is also joined by 10 other ASEAN state members.

It is an annual meeting and is attended by National Anti-drugs Agency (NADA), ASEAN state’s members as well as relevant officers.

Malaysia’s taking part in this meeting is considered as important in order to increase the cooperation among ASEAN state’s members relating to drug’s matters.

Malaysia’s Delegation is led by Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon, General Director of NADA together with other delegation’s members such as Tuan Azmi Mustafa, Director of Enforcement Division of NADA; Tuan Zainuddin Abdullah, Director of Prevention Division; Puan Nur Diyana jamaludin, Director’s Assistant of Treatment, Medicine and Rehabilitation’s Division of NADA as well as Muhamad Ramlan Syed Ahamed, Director’ Assistant of International Division of NADA.

Therefore, several matters are discussed and it involves Country Report’s Presentation by each ASEAN state’s members about current situation on drug’s matters.

This includes a briefing regarding ASOD’s activities such as the organization of ASEAN Airport Interdiction Task Force (AAITF)’s meeting, ASOD’s meeting, ASEAN Seaport Interdiction Task Force (ASITF)’s meeting and ASEAN Drug Monitoring Network (ADMN)’s meeting as well as ASEAN Drug Monitoring (ADM) Report 2020’s report.

This 42nd ASOD’s meeting runs smoothly and has obtained three main decisions which ASEAn state’s members are encouraged to update information regarding ASEAN Work Plan 2016-2025 and ASEAN Cooperation Plan 2020-2022.

Besides that, ASEAN state’s members also have to update and prepare reports on ASEAN Drug Monitoring Report 2020. Not excluded is an announcement on suggestion to represent ASEAN to Commission on Narcotics Drug (CND) by Singapore and Indonesia on 2024.
