KUALA LUMPUR, 21 July 2022 – The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) recently organised the National level Lelaki Qawwam Seminar 2022 at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur in order to empower men as leaders, protectors, and heads of families.
An understanding of the term “Lelaki Qawwam” which refers to the leadership nature and authority of men to carry out the responsibility entrusted to protect the safety and dignity of their family members based on the Quran and Sunnah, is the goal of the seminar on the theme of Lelaki Dambaan Syurga.
The seminar also helped to re-energize a community-wide system of support, particularly for family members, so that everyone plays their part in building a heavenly home.
YB Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary opened the first session of the seminar for the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) with a keynote address on the Lelaki Qawwam Initiative.

The discussion on Qawwamkan Aku then follows as the programme continues. Hushim Salleh, a registered counsellor and motivational speaker, was on a panel with Prof. Associate Dato’ Dr. Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, a lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Ustaz Nabil Ahmad, the assistant director of JAKIM, who served as the moderator.
The Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), YB Senator Datuk Idris Ahmad, opened the National Level Lelaki Qawwam Seminar 2022.
Deputy Director General (Operations) of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA), Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Sade Mohamad Amin and Director General of JAKIM, Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff were also present in the event.
