NADA launch KSKK to prevent negative stigma

KUANTAN, October 18, 2022 – The National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA) launched the Kelompok Sokongan Kepulihan Keluarga (KSKK) as a support system for NADA clients to remain in treatment and recovery.

Minister of Home Affairs, YB Dato’ Sri Hamzah bin Zainudin said, the group is seen as able to provide comfort area and opportunities for family members to share problems and find solutions.

He said that the effort produce was able to reduce the stigma on drug addiction issue while also recognizing the key role that family members plays a support element to help with client’s recovery treatment throughout their remaining days.

“In line with the current changes in trend that shows the evolution of drug abuse from organic types to synthetic types, as such NADA changes on how the treatment and rehabilitation is conducted from a tough and rugged perspective to a more holistic and caring approach that includes biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects where the client and their close family members are more familiar with known as Model i – Pulih NADA.

“Studies show that family support plays an important role in treatment and recovery process and prevent clients from drug relapse.

“Beside that, a more structured family support has been introduced since 2020 and it proved to be effective when statistic show the client’s recovery retention level which was only 20 percent in 2015 was successfully increased to 71 percent in September 2022,” he said.

He continued while delivering the welcome speech of The National Recovery Aspiration Family Program 2022 here, today.

Earlier, His Royal Highness the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hasanal Ibrahim Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah having arrive on scene and completed the program.

Furthermore, YB Dato’ Sri Hamzah hopes that the program can be fully utilized by those affected to share opinions, experiences, capabilities and thoughts by forming a group to keep in check the treatment and recovery condition.

He added, participation during the program indirectly shows a positive feedback that the client is determined to change and return to society.

“In addition, itโ€™s a given to encourage the community to welcome and accept drug addicts who have recovered and recognize their ability to function productively in society.

“The National Recovery Aspiration Family Program implemented is one of the channel system for treatment and rehabilitation model used by NADA in treating drug addiction recovery throughout the country,” he said.
