NADA Kedah future expansion on the TEKAD program

ALOR SETAR, March 16, 2023 – The effectiveness of the implementation of the Tempat Kerja Bebas Dadah (TEKAD) program, the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) of Kedah is committed to expanding the program to government-related companies (GLC) and private sector.

Kedah State NADA Director, Abdul Hamediee Ibrahim said, the effort is an early preventive measure to ensure a prosperous and conducive workplace without the influence of drugs.

“The 20 companies are involved in the TEKAD program including Permodalan Kedah Berhad; KXP Airportcity Holding Sdn. Bhd; Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp); Kulim Technology Park Corporation Sdn. Bhd and PAKA Utama Holdings Sdn. Bhd..

“A total number of 23 participants attended the Kedah State GLC TEKAD Program briefing held at the Kedah State NADA office,” he said.

Furthermore, Abdul Hamediee said, various activities were carried out including briefings of exposure to employers on the issue of drug abuse in the workplace.

“Using the help of the program, employers can take an early approach to prepare prevention tools and identify early symptoms of drug or substance abuse at work,” he said.

Earlier, the briefing on TEKAD Program was delivered by the Assistant Director of Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Center (PUSPEN) Bukit Chabang, Perlis, Mohammad Nurddin Ramli who emphasized the awareness aspect of education in managing the issue of drug abuse among employees and provided information on drug prevention education in the workplace.

In accordance with the decision of the Kedah State Anti-Drugs Action Council (MTMD) meeting 1st bill, 2022, the Kedah State Private TEKAD Program needs to be implemented.

Its advisable and was the recommendation from the Kedah State Secretary’s Office for the implementation of TEKAD for private companies to create a healthy, safe and drug-free workplace.
