MOF Conducted Engagement Session With AADK On Managing Economic Performance & Targeted Aid For Citizens

Kajang, July 8th, 2021 – Ministry of Finance (MOF) had organized Libat Urus Prestasi Ekonomi dan Bantuan Bersasar Kepada Rakyat dan Peniaga’s session under the plan of Pelan Pemulihan Negara (PPN) together with National Anti-drugs Agency (NADA).

The session was held with the purpose of solving any misunderstanding and assumptions regarding government’s assistance throughout the struggle in facing this Covid-19 pandemic.

Deputy Finance Minister II, Mohd Shahar Abdullah said, the session was conducted to convey information regarding the country’s economic performance besides than focusing on three main components which were to care for community, to support businesses and to increase vaccination.

“The implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) 1.0 on March 2020 in order to restrain the transmission of Covid-19 virus had cause negative impacts on 2.8 million people who were working on their own or taking daily pays and the percentage of affected groups was 5.3%. Those who were financially affected got involved in drugs’ abuse and saw it as a solution to reduce stress.

Therefore, today’s session with NADA carries the objective to encourage NADA in advertising all assistances and aids that are prepared under the packages of economy stimulus such as PEMERKASA+ and the latest, Pakej Perlindungan Rakyat dan Pemulihan Ekonomi (PEMULIH) towards former drug addicts,” he says, today.

This session was conducted through video meeting and was joined by NADA’s staffs, as well as MOF and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)’s officers.

Together attended this session were NADA’s General Director, Sutekno Ahmad Belon and NADA’s Deputy General Director (Management), Chan Hong Jin.

Besides that, Sutekno says, through this initiative, NADA is able to help the government in providing the right information to community about this issue.

“This approach by MOF is very coincide in explaining to government workers in advertising more accurate information to community, especially family and friends.

“This is because, they are also facing the community, and through this session, they are able to convey and spread the right information to all parties,” he says.
