Cooperation between NADA and MTUC

KAJANG, 15 September 2022 – The National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA) collaborated with Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC) to discuss on the issue of employment opportunities towards those who are involved in drug addiction offences. The main issue presented was that every individual deserved a second chance to change for the better and have the right to do so, especially receiving job opportunities as one of the main support systems.

Recently, the meeting was held between NADA and the delegation from MTUC the discussion was led by NADA Director General, Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon together with President, Mohd Effendy Abdul Ghani which took place at NADA Headquarters.

The meeting held discuss various issues involving job opportunities and were voiced between the two parties, particularly on individuals caught up in drug problems. In addition, both parties also debated on the direction it will lead and continuity of employment if any of them were involved in drug abuse. An idea was proposed on long-term cooperation that can be established between the two parties, regarding the Drug-Free Workplace Program (TEKAD) as a method of prevention, intervention and after care programs provided by NADA to realized the goal of Controlled Drugs 2025.

As the saying goes, sometimes life gives you a second chance, or even two! Not always, but sometimes. It’s what you do with those second chances that counts. Therefore, the opportunity should be considered for the concerned group so that they don’t repeat the same mistakes and cancel out the negative stigma.
