GEDONG, 16 July 2022 – The State Government is still actively putting forward numerous steps to combat the issue of drugs and substances and enhance the welfare of the Sarawakians.

The importance of a comprehensive and inclusive strategy is highlighted in order to build a vibrant and competitive community and so produce a good, secure, and tranquil environment.

One endeavour to accomplish this goal is the simultaneous execution of the Sarawak State Level Direct Selling Program (JTDL) and the National Anti-Drugs Day (HADK) 2022 Commemoration in Gedong, Sarawak.

The integration of the two programmes creates a platform for countering the “Lebih Baik Cegah” initiative, which aims to address social diversion concerns like drug and alcohol consumption while also creating chances for economic growth in the agricultural sector.

Through the establishment of two programmes overseen by the One Stop Committee to Address Drugs and Substance Issues (OSC-MIDS), the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) programme is driven by the NADA i-Pulih model, NADA i-Cegah model, and NADA i-Prihatin model.

Omnipresence activities, Walking Message, competency training for the Penghulu Simunjan and Gedong Bureau for Dealing with Drugs & Substances Issues, Ziarah Kasih, sales of agricultural goods, agricultural basic industries and exhibitions, as well as advisory services from various agencies, are just a few of the activities offered for the neighbourhood.

NADA, FAMA, OSC-MIDS Sarawak, Majlis Pembangunan Sosial Negeri Sarawak, and Majlis Tindakan Membanteras Dadah (MTMD) Bahagian Samarahan are all partners in the HADK 2022 and Program JTDL Peringkat Negeri Sarawak frameworks.

Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Premier of Sarawak, officiated the programme recently.

The Mock Cheque Incentive eWallet was also symbolically given to the recipients after the opening remarks by YAB Premier Sarawak, who was also pleased to present the Certificate and Mock Check to the Volunteers of the Sarawak State Anti-Drugs SQUAD.

Earlier, YAB Premier Sarawak visited the exhibition locations of various government departments and agencies, including NADA, the Ministry of Health (MOH), the National Registration Department, and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi; Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and NADA Director General, Tuan Sutekno Ahmad Belon were also present in the event.
